What You'll Learn

Crypto Crash Course

Before you can break it, you need to understand it. This module covers:

• the encryption algorithms you'll encounter in the wild
• the tools used to implement them
• the mistakes developers make that create exploitable weaknesses

Crypto Recon

Knowing a device is encrypted is the starting point, not the obstacle. Before writing a single line of exploit code, you'll learn to:

• identify encrypted data
• fingerprint the cryptographic libraries and tools in use
• determine the algorithm

Key Recovery: Soft Targets

Not every engagement requires hardware. This module focuses on:

• finding leaked keys
• reverse engineering decryption routines
• writing key generators

These are the techniques that work when developers leave the door cracked.

Key Recovery: Hard Targets

When the soft approach isn't enough, you go to the hardware. This module covers:

• pulling data directly from physical devices
• gaining shell access to extract keys
• defeating key rotation schemes on live targets

Prerequisites

Students should have completed Gray Hat Academy's IoT Firmware Exploitation course or have equivalent hands-on experience with embedded systems and firmware analysis.
